Mark Thornton is a senior member of the Winning From Within core faculty at Mobius. He has led senior leadership programs with top executives, together with Erica Ariel Fox, for more than fifteen years. In addition to leading plenary sessions in the program, he has extensive experience coaching leaders one-on-one, as well as in facilitating small group sessions. Mark has unique expertise in contemplative practices, including as the author of a book on meditation practices for busy people, Meditation in a New York Minute: Super Calm for the Super Busy.
Outside of his work at Mobius, Mark is the founder of a hedge fund working to end poverty. Mark has been a director of a public company in the US, an advisor to Richard Branson’s Carbon War Room initiative, and has partnered with Nobel Peace Prize winners in creating social impact.
Alongside working with business clients directly, for nearly a decade Mark has run leadership courses for the Leadership Development Program at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business, teaching 1st and 2nd year MBA’s leadership and insight skills. He has lectured at the Jacob Javitz Center in New York City, has appeared on more than 60 national and international radio shows, and has been the keynote speaker on wisdom practices at a number of national hedge fund and private equity industry events.
Previously, Mark was Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for JPMorgan Private Bank in London, and he has more than 17 years of experience in investment banking. He left JPMorgan in 2002 to run corporate training leadership workshops for Fortune 100 companies. Over the past 25 years, he has learned wisdom traditions from a number of Masters and applied these practices in everyday business situations.
A native of Australia, Mark now lives in New York City with his wife, Charlotte, a fellow Mobius faculty member and coach.
