Mark Byford, based in London, guides global clients on board and CEO succession, C-suite coaching, and organizational development. He advises public, privately held, and family-owned companies on executive and board issues. Mark helped develop Egon Zehnder’s proprietary accelerated integration approach and he coleads the firm’s Accelerated Integration Practice globally. He is active in Egon Zehnder’s global Health Practice, where he leads relationships with pharmaceutical clients, mid-tier biotechs and startups, and global health not-for-profit organizations. Mark also works with a number of executive and academic education nonprofits. As a faculty member, he delivers the firm’s CEO & Executive Breakthrough and Executive Discovery Programs, and partners with coaches from Mobius Executive Leadership.

Prior to joining Egon Zehnder, Mark was a Consultant with the Boston Consulting Group and worked with pharmaceutical and consumer companies to develop their post-merger integration practices. He began his career as a junior fellow at Oxford University, where he researched and taught 16th-century English history.
Mark has a first-class degree in modern history from New College at Oxford University, a DPhil in 16th-century history from Oxford, and an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France. He is a member of the history faculty at Oxford.
Mark serves on a number of not-for-profit boards in the fields of education and academic research.
